My mkii sounds the all-time through my 77 slant with 55hz 30 watt Blackbacks on top and V30's on bottom. Information technology's a bright cab and it balances the Rockerverbs low mid focus. Next would be my 1960ax with Chinese Greenbacks and last would be the matching Orange PPC412 with V30's. Likewise night for the Mkii but peradventure that's the cab construction rather than the speakers.Too my experience was the Mk Two gain channel sounded just "ok" thru V30's, only sounded glorious thru G25 and G30 greenbacks.

I've had both the I and II. I retrieve the gain on the II might be better for heavier stuff. But the I is a not bad sounding amp. Better cleans on the Ii, merely that's subjective. The efx loop on the I is definitely an issue depending on what efx yous utilize. The input impedance on the loop is depression if I remember correctly.
Does the gain knob on the mark Ii accept the same awesome taper as the mark I? I really liked the huge gain range on the RV50mk1 proceeds knob, could go from virtually clean to mean. Much more range than your average once more knob. I oasis't see this again, till I got my Soldano HR25.
The RV50 mk1 I had, had some of the bad batch of Alpha potentiometers. I would presume virtually of those that had that consequence would have been fixed by now.

Having both a MK1 and an Mk3 I can tell you that both are exellent amps. A lot of people have negative things to say near the MK1 just I personally like the MkI best. I've heard that the Mk1 was the most costly amp to produce that Orangish ever fabricated. It has some really cool and unusual features that the MK2 and MK3 don't have. The MK1 tin can run a variety of power-tubes EL-34/6CA7 and 6L6/KT88/6550 because it has an output selector which nigh makes information technology like two unlike amps. The MK2 & MK3 can't practice that. I doubtable Orange decided to cut the price of production by removing that feature and opted to tell a story nearly the reverb being improved on the 2 & 3.
Had a Mk2 for a while and changeing the output tubes was a feature. Tried it with 6L6's El34'southward 6Ca7'due south Kt88's. Kt88's sounded best for huge cleans 34's for dirt and 6L6's a happy medium. Biggest improvement was replacing the V30's with a single EV12L.

Dude resurrected an quondam thread to say Mk I is where information technology's at.
I've owned a couple of the Rockerverbs. Peachy amps, particularly for the ~$grand they become for used.

I thought the MKII could do that too.
The 50w MKI couldn't though - instead of a output valve bias switch, it had a high or low damping switch.
It makes a large difference to the feel of the RV50 MKI, a very smashing feature.

100% definitely less gain its very dry and boring the rocker 30. The rockerverb is more saturated in full crunch and is clearer at the same time. I prefer rockerverb I would get some other th30 or dual terror over the rocker 30 every timeI almost bought a Rocker 30 years ago, but I was told it had a lot less gain than the Rockerverb. On that note, I saw the Thunderverb 50 today. It has one channel with the single tone 'shape' knob and and another with a 3-ring EQ. But I'one thousand dislocated which channel has the shape knob and which has the EQ?

Mark III if your heart is assail a rockerverb. And test out a CR120 just for fun if yous can practice a side-by-side. I did and ended up with the CR120. and saved $1,200

Agree the CR120 is just every bit good as a Rockerverb at much lower cost. I also agree about a unmarried EVM12L being the best speaker (and I've tried many speakers with this amp).
